Staff Bios.

JP Sanborn

Head Coach

Girls Varsity Basketball

Coach Sanborn is entering his second year as the Saints Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. Prior to being recruited for the head coach position, JP spent 2 years coaching the boys JV team. This began his affiliation with St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Coach Sanborn was born in Haverhill, MA; he moved to Rumford, ME where he graduated from Rumford High School in 1989. At this time, Coach Sanborn answered a calling to the United States Navy in 1993. While enlisted, he served in Operation Desert Storm, Desert Shield and the Liberation of Kuwait. He is an accomplished Gulf War Veteran with many awards.

Upon returning to civilian life, Coach Sanborn volunteered for an organization that provided clothing, housing and food to the homeless teens of Washington State. He later returned to New Hampshire and volunteered as a coach in Stratham for 6 years while working for a large manufacturing company. In 1999, at the behest of many parents, JP founded his own basketball organization and Journeyman Basketball was born. It is in its 18th year as a year-round basketball program that has served well over 2000 families. In his 25 years of basketball, Coach Sanborn has over 2000 games coached and 400+ officiated. He has organized numerous skills clinics, coaches clinics, and week-long fundamentals camps. In the last 8 years of AAU/Travel basketball, Coach Sanborn and his teams have won 3 state titles.

In 2008, Coach Sanborn began coaching Sacred Heart School Boys and Girls Basketball. In 2002, he accepted the Athletic Director's position and remains involved with the school to this today. He has served on 2 Board of Directors Panels, specifically related to fostering the development of youth. He is a highly motivated positive reinforcement coach who is committed to the extensive study and coaching of fundamental skill and confidence building. He takes pride in character development and promotes community service.
