KINGSWOOD REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL: 1

STA keeps winning; improves to 4-1 on the season.

The St. Thomas (4-1) boys tennis team defeated Kingswood (0-2) 8-1 to extend their win streak to 3.  STA was able to double their win total from a year ago in dominating fashion.  Jack Dillow wasted little time defeating his opponent 8-0 at #3 singles.  Jake McGuire got the Saints on the board next with the 8-3 victory in the #4 spot.  Jack Benelli quickly put his opponent away at #5 singles with another 8-0 score for the Saints.  Owen Himmer (#2 singles) and Hayden Blaisdell (#6 singles) also picked up 8-0 wins for STA.

Senior Captain Miguel Diaz had the most entertaining match of the day at #1 singles.  Diaz started slow by surrendering an early 3-0 lead.  A little water and a talk from Coach helped turn things around as he settled down and battled back.  Diaz would eventually finish off his opponent 8-5 in a very competitive match.  With no prior competitive tennis experience, Diaz is impressively off to a 4-1 start at #1 singles.

After taking all 6 singles, the Saints were able to relax a bit heading into doubles knowing the match was already secured.  The undefeated doubles team of Dillow and Benelli continued their winning ways with the 8-2 victory at #2 doubles.  McGuire and Blaisdell dominated #3 doubles winning 8-0 making Blaisdell 16-0 on the day.  Diaz and Himmer fell at #1 doubles 8-6 but the rain had already started to come down which limited a lot of maneuverability on the court.  The match had already been won so it was more important for the Saints' top 2 players to build some chemistry.  Coach Suleski continues to be impressed by how well the boys have handled the early part of the season despite how inexperienced they are.

STA will look to continue their winning ways on Monday when they host Pembroke at Dearborn Park.
