STA gets humbled by Souhegan; falls 8-1 to top team in D2.

STA (5-2) returns to action after a long break as the boys spent the following week on vacation.  The boys showed a lot of rust and Souhegan (7-0) took advantage of it.  STA lost 1-5 singles in quick fashion to a Souhegan team that remains the only undefeated team in the division.  Senior Assistant Captain Hayden Blaisdell gave the Saints their best chance for a point at singles.  He held a couple of different leads before eventually falling 6-8 in the #6 spot.  The heat took its toll on Blaisdell and affected a number of the players.

Coach was determined to avoid the 9-0 sweep so he was expecting a lot of effort out of his doubles teams despite the outcome of the match having already been decided.  While the Saints lost #1 and #2 doubles by wide margins, the #3 pairing of sophomore Jake McGuire and junior Baxter Kimball picked up STA's lone victory of the afternoon.  The duo earned the 8-3 victory improving their record to 4-0 on the season as a pair.

The Saints will look for redemption tomorrow afternoon when they host Pembroke at Dearborn Park.
