STA dominates Goffstown 9-0 to improve to 8-2 on the season.
The STA (8-2) boys tennis team swept Goffstown (0-9) at Dearborn Park to put themselves in position to potentially host a playoff game. Only the top 4 teams host and with an 8-2 record the St. Thomas boys have slid into the 4th seed with four matches remaining. Goffstown would have to forfeit #6 singles and #3 doubles meaning STA would start the match up 2-0.
Senior Captain Miguel Diaz got the Saints on the board quickly with a dominating 8-0 victory at #1 singles. Sophomores Owen Himmer (#3 singles) and Jake McGuire (#4 singles) followed suit with quick 8-0 wins that sealed the team victory for the saints. The boys didn't stop there as recent challenge match winners Jack Dillow (#2 singles) and Hayden Blaisdell (#5 singles) finished the singles sweep for the Saints. Dillow (won 8-2) and Blaisdell (won 8-0) each impressed in their new positions.
Diaz teamed up with senior Xzavier Randolph (competing in his first varsity tennis match) to pick up the 8-1 victory at #1 doubles. Dillow and junior Jack Benelli earned an 8-2 win at #2 singles.
If STA hopes to stay in the top 4 they must continue their winning streak as they face three straight tough opponents in as many days (Kennett, Lebanon, and Portsmouth).
