The St. Thomas Aquinas JV Softball team opened their season with 16-5 sixth inning loss to Somersworth High School. The cheerful Saints played with passion and rallied in the top of the sixth inning for 1 earned run but ultimately fell short to the feisty Hilltoppers. Olivia Graziano pitched a superb game in solid control of her pitches and struck out 3 batters. The Saints defense was supported by an acrobatic catch at shortstop by Kassidy Pottier, a double play initiated by Olivia Buldoc at 3rd base, and a rapid relay throw from Olivia Graziano to Ava Coffey who tagged out an advancing Somersworth runner on a close play a home plate. The Lady Saints offense was sparked by singles from Olivia Buldoc, Sophie Nadeau and Zoe Roberston, and Ava Coffey went 3 for 4 for the day. The Lady Saints look to bounce back at home against Kearsarge High School on Wednesday!
