Wow, what a way to start the season. Our Saints played Prospect Mountain to a thrilling 1-1 draw this past Friday. Both teams exhibited tremendous effort, determination, and conditioning as they battled through 100 minutes of soccer on a hot evening. Both teams had chances early on with Prospect Mountain getting on the scoreboard first 11 minutes into the game. Sophomore, Chelsea Cooper scored the the Saints tying goal with an assist from senior Maggie Marsh with 9 minutes remaining in the 1st half. The fun was just beginning. Morgan Atwell, Adrienne Bevins, Cooper, and Marsh continued to pepper the Timberwolves goal while defenders Anna Gasper, Emma Corson, Abby Tosatti, and Kylie Youngclaus held the host at bay. Both teams had great chances, but each goalkeeper had wonderful outings. Ava Perfilio had 12 saves, including several great ones. It really was a game where either team could have won, yet neither deserved to lose. The saints are next in action Monday, at Derryfield.
